A Legacy of Family, Innovation, and Quality

Perfected over Four Generations

For over a century, the Witters family has farmed this land, nurturing it with care, innovation, and resilience. From humble beginnings in sheep and cattle farming to pioneering citrus cultivation, Henry’s Gisborne Citrus is built on a foundation of hard work and a deep connection to the land.

Our farm’s story is intertwined with the story of our family. It started with Henry’s great-grandfather purchasing the land in the late 1800s, and today, we proudly continue the legacy of four generations of farming. With a commitment to quality and sustainability, we’ve cultivated 30 hectares of citrus trees, offering the freshest, most flavourful fruit in New Zealand.

Henry’s Gisborne Citrus

In 1973, a new chapter began with the planting of our first citrus trees. Henry’s father and grandfather recognised the unique growing conditions of our land and saw the potential to cultivate high-quality citrus. Today, Henry’s Gisborne Citrus proudly spans 30 hectares of citrus orchards, producing some of the finest fruit in our region and recognised throughout New Zealand.

We are passionate about making a difference:

Picking and sending out fruit the same day – Our oranges are picked and shipped every Tuesday, every week, ensuring the absolute minimal time between harvest and delivery. This commitment to freshness means you enjoy fruit at its peak - full of flavour, juiciness, and nutrients.

Reducing carbon footprint – When you order directly from us, you're not only getting the freshest fruit possible, but you're also helping reduce the carbon footprint. By cutting out the middleman, eliminating delays, and avoiding unnecessary storage time in chillers or on shelves, we ensure your oranges arrive quickly and with minimal environmental impact - straight from the orchard to your doorstep.

Introducing Henry & Hannah

What began with Henry selling oranges at Christchurch farmers' markets during university grew into a small juice business with his wife Hannah in Hawke’s Bay, using 2nd and 3rd grade fruit to make fresh orange juice for cafés and markets. Eventually, they returned to the family farm in Gisborne, bringing things full circle.

Today, our mission is simple: to deliver the very best of our citrus - grown with care and delivered straight to your door. Nothing excites us more than the wonderful feedback of our award-winning Gisborne oranges and that people are making the switch to quality New Zealand produce rather than imported fruit and vegetables.

At Henry’s Gisborne Citrus, our family history is in every tree we plant and every piece of fruit we grow. Today, we continue this legacy with pride, and as a family, alongside our children Tilly and Charlie, we’re excited to nurture and grow the future of our farm
